Using Audio Books to Learn English

Many countries are now using English as their official language when it comes to business. This is because it is spoken by so many people around the world. When you consider the number of people who travel and do business on an international level, English becomes the language of choice. Also, with so many jobs being outsourced to overseas companies, there is a need for the new company's employees to speak English. It is important for good customer relations. The use of audio books to learn English can benefit the student in many ways. The first one is the audio books teach proper pronunciation. No matter how hard someone tries to learn English, until they hear certain words being pronounced, they will not be able to understand it. For example, the word “Live” has two pronunciations. “Treachery” on the other hand has only one pronunciation, but phonetics would teach it to be pronounced differently. To further add to the confusion look at the words done, gone, and lone. I do not even have to mention plurals like mouse and house. Using an audio book can clarify some of the confusion.

Another benefit to using audio books to learn English is the time factor. Many people who are using these books also have full time jobs or are going to school. They do not have time to add an additional class to their already busy schedule. The audio books can be listened to while driving, walking, or exercising. The value the student gets is immeasurable.

Many of the audio books on the market are skill related. In other words, there are some devoted to the new language student. This would be someone who is not familiar with the English language at all. The basics of English would be taught. The lessons would be of a fundamental skill level. As the student advances so do the lessons. There are also audio books for the more advanced students. These will have more of the word pools so the student can understand sentence structure to formulate a better conversation.

As a person who is using audio books to learn English, begins to advance in their knowledge, the chances of them obtaining a better job grows. So many companies are using telemarketers to answer questions about services, technical support, and billing questions. It is imperative to be able to speak proper English in order to provide quality service to the consumer. A company which can not offer English speaking employees can lose a contract for work very quickly.

The English language is one of the hardest to learn. There are so many idiosyncrasies within the language it can become frustrating. With perseverance and dedication one can learn to master the English language by using audio books. To learn English in the classroom may not be feasible. This adds an alternative to someone who is trying to better themselves and their career.
