It is said that someone who is bilingual can actually go farther in business than someone who is not. This is one reason why there are so many people who are learning English as a second language. It is also becoming more and more important to be able to speak English on the job site in many foreign companies.

There are so many American companies who are outsourcing certain branches of their businesses to foreign countries. Most of the positions are in customer service fields, like tech support or billing. This means the telemarketer who answers the telephone must have proper English skills to be able to do the work. Many foreigners are learning English to supply the demand in the job market overseas. There are even Americans who are being paid to teach the English language to the new employees. This can be a difficult task.

Learning English is probably one of the hardest things someone could ever do. With the slang terms and strange expressions or idioms we use, it can all be very confusing. Even when written, the sentence structure can be changed several times. When a student is learning English it is important to cover all aspects of the language.

There are over 10,000 known languages spoken in the world. Some are primitive and some are very advanced. The English language is both. An example would be the sentence, “I see red”. This can mean you see the color red. It also means you are very angry. To ask someone to learn English is more than asking them to gain a knowledge of a foreign language. It is asking them to become familiar with our customs, expressions, and ways of life. For instance to say to someone you could eat a horse may make them wonder what type of diet you have. Between the translation boards, the English language forums, and the distance learning classes, a student can gain a great knowledge of the English language. This is helpful to keep the jobs which are being outsourced. It is also extremely helpful for someone who is coming to the United States to further their education in one of the universities or colleges.
